Faith Focus

Our faith focus this week is Jesus telling us we belong to God, we are God’s children. We will read a story called “Michael’s Surprise Job”.

 

Activities this week

  • We will be learning about the letter “Ww” and the sound it makes.
  • Our theme this week is Spiders and Webs
  • We will be lacing spider webs and painting them also
  • We will count spider legs and match numbers.
  • We will graph the number of students who like spiders and who do not.

 

Reminders/Notes

Red Ribbon Week Oct 23-28th

Fall Harvest Party- Tuesday Oct 31st.  We will play games and have treats. Parents are welcome to attend. P3 party will start at 8:15am and P4 party will start at 12:30pm. There will be a sign-up sheet for party plates, napkins, cups, drink and treat.

November 1st All Saints Day

November 2nd All Souls Day

November 10th- SPCS Veterans Day Program

Science:  Draw a person on a blank sheet of paper.   You may draw an example to get them started.  Put the date on it and send it in.  You may refer to the following website with your child:

Social Studies: 
Goal: Share episodes of personal history from birth to present through personal memorabilia or connected to stories. 
Activity:   Give your child four or more pictures of themselves to put in order (according to age, event – like building a snowman)   Send them in to share with the class - optional


Parents – There are 2 sets of capital letters.  You have a few options depending on your child.  One option is for you to cut one set of the letters out so that they are little squares.  Show them how to put the matching letter card onto the 2nd sheet of capital letters.  2nd option:  Put the cut out letter squares on the floor (you may only want to do 5 letters at a time) and say give me the “___”.  3rd option is to make a matching game with two pages of capital letters.  Cut out all the letters into squares.  I would encourage you to do only 5 letter pairs at a time so that you would have 10 cards total face down.   One person turns two cards face up, name them and then turns them face down.  If you turn two over that are a match, put them aside and you can have another turn.  (I usually limit one second turn)   If your child does not know the letter names yet, just say the letters when you have a turn and if they ask the name, then tell them.    You may want to put 5 or 6 sets in different baggies at home to make it easier.   Have fun!  
Step 2:  For those children who already know the letter names, say the letter and make the letter sound when the letters are turned over.  (Example: B, Bah)
Step 3:   Say words that start with that letter sound (Ex:  ball, bat, bake)
